Reading is an essential part of the classes learning journey. Your child will be sent home with a reading book at the appropriate level for the current reading attainment. Children are expected to read these book two to three times to help them build up fluency. Once they have finished reading their book they can independently change these when they enter the school in the morning.

We ask that your child reads at home as regularly as possible - this could be to yourself, on their own, to a sibling or to a pet. You can record your child's reading in their 'Reading Record'. Your child may choose to read their school reading book or a book from home.

Later in the year children will take part in reading assessments - these assessment will test their understanding of piece of text. We frequently do work in preparation for these in school. I have also attached some practice questions and text which your child may wish to practice at home.
