If your child is in Reception please look again at the words It is and practise writing short sentences using this sentence starter e.g. It is big. Encourage your child to copy the words It is and hear the first sound of the describing word.
For any Reception wanting a challenge and Year 1, show your child the words the, and, has and talk about the tricky spellings of the and has. Model writing a sentence using these words and adjectives, e.g. The owl has brown feathers and big, orange eyes. Ask your child to write their own sentences. They could draw the parts of the animal they are describing.
