Phonics

'Reading is a priority. Children begin learning phonics in Nursery. Staff deliver phonics sessions with consistency and precision. Teachers check pupils’ knowledge, identify gaps, and address them quickly. As a result, pupils become confident and fluent readers.' Ofsted 2025

Phonics

We use Rocket Phonics for phonics teaching from Reception upwards.  Nursery also started using the scheme from January 2025.  Phonics learning is in the form of daily lessons for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.  Interventions take place for some children outside of the phonics lesson.
