Diversity In School

Diversity and Equality at Benson

Here at Benson C of E Primary School, we aim to embrace the diversity within our school, community, and the wider world. We guide the members of our school to find confidence in individual identity through our bespoke curriculum. We value all our members of the school community and educate the children to recognise that we all have an equal worth. We promote equality through our daily interactions with the children where we teach them to understand that everyone is treated equally regardless of:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • marriage or civil partnership (in employment only)
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

We are dedicated to promoting equality in all aspects of our school lives, by using historical examples of discrimination to support learning and encourage tolerance.

To help promote equality in our school we have KS2 Diversity and Equality Champions. Our amazing ambassadors help to educate others on the importance of diversity and equality in many ways including assemblies, organising events, sharing resources and educating others on the playground. To see some of the amazing support they provide, please look at our gallery below.

We aim to ensure that all children feel represented in our curriculum; to do this we ensure we represent people from a range of diverse backgrounds in all aspects of our learning.  While inclusion, identity, and diversity are at the core of all that we do, below is a curriculum map which provides a general overview of where these concepts are specifically addressed. For more detailed information on individual subjects please see the Topic Webs on the class pages.
