Update - Working from home
I hope you are all well and settling into week 2 of learning from home. I am very much missing seeing everyone and hearing about what you are getting up to, so please do email me with any pictures of completed challenges or to tell me about your day. I am now contactable directly at email@example.com. If you create any farm artwork, you can email it to me and I will upload them to the class page, I'm sure we would all like to see your pictures.
**I also wanted to draw your attention to the website white rose, which you can access for free. They have math activities inspired by a different story each week. This week the story is 'What the Ladybird Heard'. We have read this book lots of times as part of our topic and the children loved it. Please click on the link below and go to week 2. There is a video for each day, as well as power point slides. Today they suggest making ladybird biscuits or cutting circles in bread and adding jam. Perhaps you could add chocolate button 'spots' for a yummy treat after lunch or as an afternoon snack.**
Our topic this therm is 'On The Farm'. We have already found out what sound each animal makes and we enjoyed reading 'What the Ladybird Heard'. The children were very good at being the noisy animals and enthusiastically joined in with the story.
This week we are finding out about where the animals live on the farm.
To celebrate pancake day we all had a go at making pancakes. The children did a fantastic job of mixing up all the ingredients and we were very excited to try them. Almost everyone thought they were really delicious.
The Three Little Pigs
As part of our topic we have started to read the tale of The Three Little Pigs. This week we will be reading the story and encouraging the children to join in with the repeated refrains. If you have a copy of the book at home, please do share it with your child and ask them to join in.
There are lots of animated versions available online as well, and for something a bit different cebeebies have produced a ballet version, available here https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b041mc85/cbeebies-presents-three-little-pigs-a-cbeebies-ballet
Welcome back to all our children after the Christmas break and we would like to say a big hello to all our new children starting with us this term. We have had a fantastic start to the term and I have really enjoyed getting to know all of the children, they are a fantastic bunch!
The exciting building work has already started on the playing field and so we have decided to focus on what is happening just outside the classroom for our topic for this term: Building and Construction. We will be regularly checking up on the progress of the builders as well as finding out about the tools they use and the clothes they need to wear. If there are any builders in your family, who would like to come and talk to the children about their job, please do let Mrs. Field or Mrs. Harris know!
Winter Lambing Trip to The Earth Trust!
We had a fab day going to The Earth Trust to see the newly born lambs. We went on a coach, went in the lambing shed, made some clay lambs and even ate our lunch! We really enjoyed our visit!!
This term we have started Forest School!! We have had fun building dens, tying knots and playing games. We even had a go at climbing the rope ladder and going on the swing!
Here you will find all the information you need to know about what your child will be learning throughout the term, any key messages and all the key dates relating directly to Nursery.
