Phonics
To begin with in Nursery we focus on our environmental sounds, traditionally known as Phase 1 phonics. This involves using our listening skills to distinguish the sounds we hear in the environment, when playing instruments and when using our bodies.

Rocket Phonics
We then move onto using the Phonics scheme Rocket Phonics and begin to learn letter sounds and rhymes to remember them. The children's learning of each weekly sound is recorded on our online learning journey called Tapestry.
