Statutory Assessments
During their time in school, children will take part in national statutory assessments.
Reception
Reception Baseline
This is administered by the class teacher within the first 6 weeks of starting Reception. It consists of a short, interactive and practical assessment of the child's early literacy, communication, language and mathematics when they begin school.

Year 1
Phonics Screen (and for children in Year 2 who did not pass in Year 1). This is administered by staff in school and takes place in June. The purpose of the check is to confirm if children have learned phonic decoding to an age appropriate standard.

Year 4
Multiplication Check. This takes place in June. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It is an onscreen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question.

Standard Assessment Tests. These take place during a set week in May. Children take national assessments in
Some people refer to these tests as SATs. The tests help measure the attainment of pupils in relation to the standards set out in the national curriculum, and help teachers and parents identify where pupils may need additional support in a certain subject area.
